Students are expected to fulfil all the admission requirements prescribed by NCC, and admissions are subject to final approval by NCC. Students are expected to adhere to the relevant rules and regulations of NCC, in addition to the regulations of UKCBC.

Entry Requirements for the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in International Travel and Tourism Management

The Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in International Travel and Tourism Management is open to students looking to advance their careers within the travel and tourism industry.

The entry requirements of the HND course in International Travel and Tourism are as follows:

  • BTEC Level 3 qualification in a related subject
  • GCE Advanced Level profile demonstrating strong performance in a relevant subject. This is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C
  • Other related Level 3 qualification
  • Access to a Higher Education Certificate
  • Related work experience
  • Students who are non-native English speakers or who have not studied the final two years of school in English must demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to IELTS 5.5

Course Structure

During the course, you’ll gain a grounding in travel and tourism principles that will provide the basis for studying the more specialised modules at Level 5. Along with the subject-specific skills, you’ll also participate in professional development workshops throughout the qualification. These workshops will teach the skills that will become essential when you’re searching for work.

The BTEC Level 5 HND in International Travel and Tourism Management is a qualification with a minimum of 240 credits.

Students studying the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in International Travel and Tourism during the day are required to attend two full days of study per week: Monday to Saturday. The days of study vary and can be discussed during the application process. Students studying in the evening are required to attend four evenings per week: Monday to Thursday. The mode of delivery is the same across all campuses. Additionally, students are required to attend professional development sessions to advance their academic, study and language skills.

How You Will Learn

While studying on this course, you will be taught in a variety of ways including lectures, field trips, practical sessions, workshops and lectures by guest speakers. You may also take part in a work experience placement during your studies. There will be opportunities to participate in a number of research projects and on field trips which are directly linked to your programme.


Assessments are undertaken in many different ways such as delivering presentations, writing assignments, analysing case studies, completing portfolios of evidence and writing reports. There are no formal examinations required for this course.

During your course of study, we teach you the managerial skills required to work confidently in the travel and tourism sector. You will also learn and refine transferable skills such as teamwork, research, verbal and non-verbal communication, problem solving and analytical skills.

As well as attending lectures, seminars and tutoring sessions, you will be required to work independently to complete research, homework tasks and group work. Self-study is vital to your success on this course, and lecturers will guide you on how to approach independent study.

Where Could the BTEC Level 5 HND in International Travel and Tourism Management Take You?

Upon graduation, you will be able to study a one-year bachelor’s top-up degree in Business and Management (Tourism Management) at UKCBC (delivered in partnership with Bath Spa University).

In addition, students registered as NCC students will additionally have the benefits of access to NCC learning and recreation facilities at NCC’s Redbridge Campus.
