27th September sees UKCBC celebrate its 16th anniversary, and what a year it’s been! Thanks to the hard work and dedication of all members of staff, UKCBC now gives students more choice for their professional future. Let’s run through this year’s achievements.
Partnership with Bath Spa University
For the first time in its 16-year history, UKCBC now offers honours degree courses. The new top-up degree programmes were created in partnership with Bath Spa University and will allow HND graduates to seamlessly transition from their HND course to an honours degree programme. The academic team worked tirelessly to initiate, cultivate and finalise the partnership – a big thanks to all involved. Students can now apply for the next intake of Bath Spa University-awarded honours degree courses that begin in 2018. Read more about the UKCBC – Bath Spa University partnership.
Brand-new Campus in Central London
April 2017, UKCBC celebrates the official inauguration of its brand-new Central London campus. The new five-storey campus in Holborn was officially opened in a ceremony that included students, staff and special guest Deputy Mayor of London Rajesh Agrawal. The campus currently hosts the full UKCBC range of programmes.
The results are in, and the students have spoken. In August 2017, UKCBC received the results from the 2017 National Student Survey. 2017 marked the College’s first entry into the NSS and the results were overwhelmingly positive! UKCBC ranked above the regional and sector average in eight out of nine categories and gained an overall student satisfaction rating of 93% (almost 10% higher than the regional and sector average). Thanks once again to all who participated! Find out more about our NSS results.
TEF Provisional Award
UKCBC also voluntarily entered the new Teaching Excellence Framework assessment programme in a bid to improve the quality of the education offered. Although the necessary amount of data to fully assess the College is not yet available, UKCBC met the stringent requirements necessary to be entered into the programme. For this UKCBC was given a TEF Provisional Award. Be sure to check back in June 2018 to see UKCBC’s first full rating! Read more about the TEF Provisional Award.
Employability Skills Conference
Professional development is at the heart of each UKCBC course. That’s why, in May 2017, UKCBC held an employability skills conference at the new Holborn campus. The event saw guest speakers from a wide variety of professions and sectors give students insight into how they can get ahead in their chosen industry.
HND Course/Courses Update
In a bid to reflect the changing needs of employers, UKCBC has implemented two new RQF Higher National Diploma courses in the past year. The Regulated Qualification Framework sees the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Business, and the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Computing change to help students develop skills in key areas in preparation for their professional lives. Strengthening of Relationship with New City College (Formerly Redbridge College)
UKCBC’s partnership with New City College has never been stronger! July 2017 saw UKCBC as the headline sponsor of the Redbridge College 2017 Student Awards with several members of UKCBC staff attending the event. Find out more about the Redbridge Student Awards Event.
Financial Director, Bhargav Busa, had this to say on the college’s anniversary:
“Our 16th anniversary marks the end of a truly exciting year for UKCBC. Thanks to the commitment of all members of staff, UKCBC now adds more professional value to each and every member of its student body. We’re proud to announce UKCBC gained an extremely positive NSS result, a TEF provisional award, a successful QAA HER review (Alternative Providers), opened two brand-new campus in Central London (UKCBC Holborn, and UK College of English campus in Oxford Circus) and added a new selection of honours degree top-up courses (in collaboration with Bath Spa University) to the syllabus. Throughout my 8 years with the college, I’ve seen continuous growth, and I look forward to being part of this continuing trend in 2018 and beyond.”
Thanks to all students and staff for their continued support. Let’s make UKCBC’s 17th year another to remember!
