You will graduate with the expertise necessary to be an innovative, flexible and insightful employee in a number of positions within the business and management side of the travel and tourism industry.

The four-year course has been designed to get students up-to-speed with the requirements of academic study by including a foundation year. Building from this strong foundation, the first year of the degree will ask you to develop your understanding of the business environment, economics and globalisation, and during the Professional Practice module, you’ll create a portfolio that highlights your knowledge of business and management in the travel and tourism sector.

During year two of the bachelor’s degree, you’ll continue developing more industry-specific skills, and you’ll have the opportunity to show off your expertise in a professional context during a work placement module; this module will also give you the opportunity to gain valuable experience and to make business connections that may become extremely useful in the future. The second year will also see you focus in on the management practices that are specific to the travel and tourism sector while developing the employability skills that will aid in your development from a student full of potential into a graduate ready for gainful employment.

The final year will give you the chance to hone your expertise and show off your capability with an independent research project; this dissertation will be on a topic of your choosing and can greatly help support your career ambitions. Alongside the dissertation, you will look at the current challenges facing the travel and tourism sector in the Contemporary Issues module, meaning you’ll graduate ready to face the challenges of modern employment in the travel and tourism sector.

Course Entry Requirements

As a potential student of the BA (Hons) Business and Management (Tourism Management) (with Integrated Foundation Year), you will be expected to have an interest in business and enterprise, be able to demonstrate your motivation for the subject and be required to meet the following academic criteria in order to join:

  • GCSE, or
  • Any level 2 qualification equivalent to UK GCSE level, or
  • Two years work experience
  • Along with a Strong Personal Statement and CV

English Language Entry Requirements

  • If the applicants are non-native English language speakers, they are required to prove their English language proficiency by submitting a Secured English Language Test (SELT) at B1 level (IELTS 5.0 or equivalent), or
  • Undertake and pass UKCBC English Language Assessment test.
